A healing home for girls who have been sexually trafficked or abused.

About Us

Brittany Thompson
Founder and
Executive Director

Retreat4Kids was started by Brittany Thompson, a Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), in June 2020 as a result of her insight into the darkness of sexual exploitation and abuse. Brittany learned that once the forensic interview and examinations for the girls were completed, due to lack of placement options most went right back into the dark environment they had just left.

She decided to devote her life to building a retreat… a place where these girls could go to feel safe in a family atmosphere of love while providing the needed treatment to heal and have the opportunity to know the true Healer. A place of Light.

Retreat4Kids offers a therapeutic, comprehensive team approach including programs such as individual therapy and psychological counseling, continued schooling, life skills and voluntary spiritual opportunities to discover true identity and purpose. We are an IRS-approved 501(c)3 and all donations are tax-deductible.

our mission

Our mission is to show the love of Christ to each and every child and family to whom we serve and beyond. We do this by creating a culture where the needs of children, families, and staff are seen and met in creative and innovative ways.

OUR VISION

Retreat4Kids provides a Christ-centered, residential center for girls in a time of crisis. We provide hope and healing through support of foster care services, relational advocacy, and trauma-informed care in a home environment while pursuing family restoration. We seek to influence and equip others who share a similar calling to impact children, families and future generations.

Our Staff

We are grateful for the love and attention our staff members give to our mission to help our girls.

Hi, my name is Jazmine and I love to travel and learn about different cultures. I love reading and listening to music. I love to watch Korean Dramas and listen to Korean music! I love to do arts and crafts with the girls and our on-spot random dancing! Being able to watch and work with these amazing girls and co-workers doesn’t feel like a job it feels like a home away from home! I hope y’all will feel the same coming to the Retreat!

I love trying new things and being able to experience something at least once. I love animals and have two beautiful Shih Tzu’s. I work with The Retreat Center because this type of work comes easy to me. More of I was meant for this and I feel called to do this work. I always make it a point to let people know the hardest people to serve are teen girls going through trauma. But that is the point. I want to be able to serve the hardest kids because when you do and you see a breakthrough, you can stand back and feel like you made the biggest impact. I have tons of hopes and dreams and the biggest of these is to see us expand our services and that we create a path that is unique and successful.

Direct Care

Everyone deserves a second chance to be given a fresh start. My personal journey and life experiences led me to work beside a team providing the opportunity for restoration and healing of at-risk youth. I enjoy being outside and going on new and fun adventures with the kids. There’s nothing more rewarding than to see a child finally experience what it’s truly like to be a kid, to feel safe, and to feel loved.

Hi, my name is Courtney and I enjoy working with kids. It is a passion of mine. I graduated from Kingsville A&M. I wanted to be a teacher but felt that I could make a bigger difference by working with at-risk youth. I have been working in this field since I was twenty years old. I love cooking, exploring different towns, and going to the movies. When I am not working, I hang out with my friends and my five nieces and nephews. I love swimming at the beach and someday I want to swim with the sharks.

Stephanie Goss
Stephanie Goss
Board of Directors, President
Stephanie Goss is the Board President for The Retreat 4 Kids. She is passionate about the work The Retreat is currently doing with young girls who have been deeply traumatized in the human trafficked arena and is a community advocate for the healing and treatment of these children. Stephanie began her advocacy many years ago volunteering with single moms ages 11-20 in impoverished areas of Phoenix, Arizona. This led her to participate with a non-profit that served women in the sex industry. Most recently, she and her husband were foster parents, and she continues to serve as a CASA with Hill Country CASA, ministry coordinator for diaper supplies for a foster care agency, and a Home Study Writer for potential foster parents. These experiences have led her to begin her Masters in Trauma and Resilience and Stephanie plans on advocating for young children with social and emotional regulation challenges. Stephanie spent the first 15 years of her career in accounting. After years of running her own family business, she spent 7 years as a corporate flight attendant and had the opportunity to see the world. She currently is at home raising her 4-year-old daughter. She graduated from Arizona Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting.

I started praying about how to spend my time when I became an empty nester and God kept bringing The Retreat to mind. I get excited witnessing God’s faithfulness. I love walking my dogs, skiing, learning about health and wellness, working in real estate, playing card games, and traveling!
